Kaudulla Elephant Safari

Kaudulla National Park forms a crucial elephant corridor connecting Somawathie Chaitiya and Minneriya. Usually, from October to November, when the Minneriya tank floods, the massive herds migrate here, making Kaudulla the prime location for elephant sightings during those months.

What You’ll See

Kaudulla’s landscape of grasslands and the vast Kaudulla tank provide a stunning backdrop for wildlife viewing. You can spot:

• Large herds of elephants, often with many young calves
• Sri Lankan axis deer, mouse deer, and wild boar
• Over 160 bird species including the painted stork and openbill stork
• Mugger crocodiles basking on the banks

Itinerary

• 13:30 - Pickup from your hotel in Sigiriya, Dambulla, or Habarana.
• 14:15 - Arrive at the Kaudulla park gate and begin the safari.
• 14:30 - 17:30 - Explore the park. We position the jeep for optimal photography light and observe the elephants as they move towards the water.
• 18:15 - Drop-off back at your hotel.
